Allotments

The allotments were created in 2012 as a result of a request by a group of village folks to the Parish Council to find a site for allotments in the village. On behalf of the group, the late John Davey spent a few years canvassing and researching sites. The amenity land gained by the Parish Council by Valley Lane was agreed as an ideal site. (The transfer of land to the village was part of the agreement to build the adjoining housing estate.)

There are 20 plots ranging from 110 sqm to 16 sqm with many different styles of allotment gardening. The plots produce delicious fruit, vegetables and gorgeous flowers. The soil has vastly improved over the years and we now have lots of wonderful worms helping keep the soil in good condition.

A Group was formed to oversee the allotment site on behalf of the Parish Council – Great Finborough Allotment Association (GFAA) with an annual AGM and accounts.

The GFAA Committee:

Ann Squirrel – Chair

Mary Smyth – Secretary

Andrew Robinson – Treasurer

Nick Croome – Maintenance
